All living spaces should be regularly maintained to ensure optimum indoor air quality, including newer homes, which are not immune to common issues found in HVAC systems. A neglected duct contains dust, debris, particulate, and can often contain mold. But it can also be host to a number of animals such as birds and rodents, that enter through vents and unsealed access and get stuck in the ductwork. If left uncleaned, odour and bacteria from these animal remains will circulate throughout the AC system, increasing the risk of infection.
