Sharjah Islamic Museum was first opened in the Heritage Area in 1996, and its collections have been moved to the iconic Souk Al Majarra building where new collections have been added and the museums display has been updated. It reopened as the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization on June 6, 2008
