Description

Al Qattara market in Al Ain

The Qatara market dates back to the middle of the 20th century and was founded by the late Sheikh Shakhbout bin Sultan Al Nahyan on the road lined with palm trees on both sides, linking Al Qattara and Al Jimi in Al Ain. The historic Qatara market has been restored and reopened.

A traditional handicraft market will be held here on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from October to May, with the aim of encouraging local families to preserve and enhance heritage in Abu Dhabi through effective production of traditional handicrafts.

It is worth noting that the market is connected to the newly developed Qatara Citadel. It now houses a popular arts center with hundreds of modern exhibits and workshops, as well as a café and library.
