Al Maha Resort in Dubai Desert Reserve
The Dubai Desert Reserve was established around the Al Maha Desert Resort in 2002, and it was the beginning of the work to prepare the desert area to receive a large variety of desert animals and plants threatened with extinction in order to preserve it and its continuity.
The Government of Dubai has allocated an initial budget for deep research on all types of desert organisms and their ideal environment. The first animal in the reserve was launched in 2004 and since that time and place has been in continuous development with an area of 225 square kilometers, or 4.7% of the Emirate of Dubai.
