Al Fahidi, once known as Bastakiya, is one of the oldest heritage areas in the city. In 1800, the area was a commercial center for textile and pearl merchants, under the shadow of Al Fahidi Fort, which has now become the Dubai Museum. To preserve the traditional flavor, the area was built the way it was built in the past, with its narrow streets and tall buildings.
